In the past two weeks, foreign teachers in Jiaxing Vocational and Technical College have been conducting online teaching to fight against the epidemic together with their colleagues.

Fiona, from Austria, has worked in our college for 11 years. She regards Jiaxing as her second hometown. She was on vacation in hometown when the COVID-19 broke out and immediately expressed her concern for colleagues and students through WeChat. After receiving the notice of online teaching, she overcame the five-hour time difference, recorded various video clips for the classes and used WeChat platform to carry out online teaching. She even went outside for live-stream classes in order to show the beautiful scenery, delicious food and local customs of Australia to her students.

She also wrote an email to encourage everyone to fight against the COVID-19 together.

To all my students, colleagues and friends at Jiaxing Vocational Technical College:

    I am in awe of the phenomenal efforts of yourselves and citizens across China in response to COVID-19. The displays of selflessness in view of this challenge in order to control the spread of the virus have been inspiring to myself, those around me and the world! From a personal perspective I am enjoying and embracing the challenge in the belief that we can make significant progress, gain confidence and go on to achieve measurable success. I anticipate that our not too distant reunion will be a joyous occasion.

Ivan, a foreign teacher from South Africa, stayed at home in Jiaxing during the special vocation and started online teaching at home. He prepared online teaching resources actively and seriously. Before the start of the class, he tried the online class software several times to get familiar with the functions of the software. He also gave many effective feedbacks to students in order to ensure the effectiveness of online class.
